Jon Jones injured his pectoral tendon in training for Stipe Miocic’s fight in UFC 295. As such, the UFC canceled the fight and Jones underwent surgery. Due to this unfortunate situation, the UFC put forth an interim heavyweight championship for UFC 295 between Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich.
Aspinall won the fight to claim the interim champion title. As such, a fight between the two heavyweight champions was the talk of the town. But the UFC persisted in making Jones vs. Miocic and outright ignored Aspinall.
Soon, Tom Aspinall went after the inactive champion and Miocic for hindering his growth and halting the division. As such, he made numerous efforts to troll them on social media. Also, he called out Jon Jones to be stripped of the title.
However, nothing happened, putting him in a weird spot. Now, he might defend his interim title before the return of Jones. As for Jones, he would come back by the second half of 2024 and fight Miocic in a legacy fight.
