Mercedes, one of the most successful Formula 1 teams in the sport’s history, has made a shocking admission ahead of the 2024 season. In an exclusive interview, team principal Toto Wolff revealed that the German outfit has changed “every component” on their new W15 car in a bid to regain their competitive edge.
“We have not shied away from making drastic changes to our car for the upcoming season,” Wolff said. “We have essentially overhauled every single component on the W15 in an effort to close the gap to our rivals. It’s a bold move, but we firmly believe that it puts us in a strong position to compete for championships in the future.”
Mercedes, who have dominated the sport since the beginning of the hybrid era in 2014, have faced stiff competition from Red Bull Racing and Ferrari in recent years. This has led the team to take the unprecedented step of completely revamping their car in an attempt to regain their former dominance.
“We have a chance to be competitive in 2024,” Wolff added. “We are confident in the changes we have made and believe that it will pay off in the long run. It’s going to be a tough challenge, but we are up for it.”
The sweeping changes made by Mercedes have left many in the paddock intrigued and eager to see how the W15 will perform on track. With the 2024 season just around the corner, all eyes will be on the Silver Arrows as they look to mount a comeback and assert their position at the top of the sport once again.
