Mike Tyson denies financially chipping in for Israel Soldiers in Israeli Defense Force
Former boxing champion Mike Tyson admitted he was unaware of a fundraiser for Israeli soldiers at a dinner he attended earlier this week. Pictures of the boxing champion circulated on social media and in media reports about the Friends of the IDF (FIDF) “Evening of Solidarity,” which raised nearly $10 million. This was in lieu of the global Israel-Palestinian conflict.
The boxer drew criticism for his presence. Especially as Israel’s military action against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, where almost 12,000 people, most of them children and women, have died since Oct. 7. In a recent Instagram story, Tyson denied his involvement. He wrote:
When I was invited for a casual night out by a friend, I was unaware of any fundraising being organized and no donations were being made by me or in my name.
Funds to build temporary field hospitals, intensive care units, and other equipment for the IDF are currently being raised. The incident was at the IDF Miami fundraiser.
