Even though the 2023 Formula 1 season is coming to an end, the F1 town is not even nearly done with the drama. Latest reports have said that Red Bull’s Team Boss Christian Horner claimed Lewis Hamilton had approached him for a seat at the Austrian team. This led to enormous outburst among all the fans as those who support Lewis refused to believe he would betray Mercedes to join the reigning F1 Champion team. On the other hand, those who are against Lewis have claimed that he is looking for an easy out from Toto Wolff‘s squad since they have failed to give him a Championship-worthy car in the last two years.
When the word of this rumor reached Lewis Hamilton himself, he promptly refused all allegations about him approaching Red Bull for a seat. He also said [as seen in the video shared on F1’s official Instagram page] that it was Christian Horner’s loneliness and lack of attention that drove him to make such absurd claims about Lewis. But then, some bombshell revelations made their way to the social media site X which go to prove that Lewis might perhaps have been lying since someone close to him indeed approached Red Bull.
An unofficial account called RBR Daily claimed on X that BBC have shocking reported it was Lewis Hamilton’s father Anthony who approached Red Bull. In the BBC article, it said that one of Red Bull’s anonymous spokesperson addressed the two contradictory claims from Christian Horner and Lewis Hamilton regarding the latter’s approach to Red Bull. And while addressing this discrepancy, the spokesperson revealed it was Anthony Hamilton who approached Horner on Lewis Hamilton’s behalf.
Fans have fired at Lewis Hamilton for ‘begging his dad’ to get him a Red Bull seat
Even though Lewis Hamilton has brushed off all allegations that claimed he had approached Christian Horner for a seat at Red Bull, the fans are adamant. They have chosen to believe BBC’s anonymous top that has claimed it was Anthony, Lewis’ father, who made contact with Red Bull to negotiate the terms for his son. This has created an uproar amongst the F1 followers since they are now alleging Lewis lied when he claimed he never showed any interest in Sergio Perez’s seat beside Max Verstappen.
Here is what the fans have said about Lewis Hamilton’s father approaching Red Bull for his son–
Now, Anthony Hamilton did act as Lewis’ manager when he was in McLaren almost 15 years ago. Then, the Briton left his son’s team and there is no news that he has rejoined as his manager. Thus, it seems absurd that Lewis Hamilton will send his father, who does not even manage him anymore, for contract talks with Christian Horner. And in any case, he has signed a two-year extension on his existing deal with Mercedes, so the #44 racer will be driving for the Silver Arrows till the end of 2025, in the least.
