Shaquille Leonard, the now ‘former’ linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts showed a great gesture by passing on Turkeys to the Indianapolis locals on the eve of Thanksgiving. He was spotted with a bunch of packaged Turkey meat and passed it on to the people who came in touch with him by driving their cars on the road.
A video by a netizen recorded the moment depicted the former Colt’s activities. It soon went viral on Social media and netizens applauded him with their words of praise.
The development came a few days after the Colts have waived him off in a surprising move. The linebacker used to be one of the best players for the Colts. However, their relationship witnessed a drastic decline in the last few days as the LB criticized the team publicly for not providing him with adequate game time. The tiff resulted in the permanent removal of the LB from the squad.
Shaq is the ultimate competitor and has been a fan favorite since he arrived as a rookie in 2018--We are incredibly grateful for his contributions to the team and the city of Indianapolis over the last six seasons. We wish him the best and he will always be a valued member of the Horseshoe.
General Manager Chris Ballard said in a statement.
Despite the temporary bitterness, the LB did a great job by providing turkeys to the streetgoers. When he was asked about the event, the LB said he wanted to thank everyone who was behind him in good and bad times.
I’m all about giving back. Through tough times, good times, no matter what it is.
Shaquille Leonard thanked his former team amidst the fallout
As a reaction to the termination, Shaq thanked his former team and their staff. Despite the tussle he was having, the LB did not shy away from acknowledging his experience and good time on the team.
Indy, I want to thank you for accepting me and my family with open arms,” he wrote on his social media. "These past six years have been nothing but incredible! Through the good times and the bad y’all stood by my side. I apologize for not bringing that (Lombardi) trophy back to the 317.
Leonard on X
