Khamzat Chimaev is one of the biggest superstars in the UFC. Even Dana White in a recent appearance on Mike Tyson‘s podcast named Chimaev along with Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski. Prochazka had to vacate the light heavyweight title when he was the champion due to injury. Unfortunately, he was unable to win back the title at UFC 295 against Pereira. Nevertheless, a fight with Chimaev seems intriguing for the Czech fighter.
Chimaev on his last fight won via majority decision at UFC 294 against Kamaru Usman. Usman was a short-notice replacement for Paulo Costa and Chimaev’s victory was scrutinized by MMA fans and fighters alike.
Prochazka’s loss to Pereira was controversial. Many protested on social media that the referee stopped the bout early. However, Prochazka agreed with the stoppage. On the other hand, Khamzat Chimaev’s victory was heavily criticized.
Chimaev was expected to finish Usman quickly. Surprisingly, Usman survived the first round and was very competitive in the subsequent rounds. Many fans and fighters even said that Usman would’ve won the fight if it had 5 rounds.
