The Cleveland Browns are going on a surprising run in the ongoing NFL season despite the instability in their quarterback position. Deshaun Watson — who missed several games — has been officially ruled out for the remaining season with a shoulder injury.
One of the main reasons for their success so far is their defensive unit. The Browns’ defense, statistically one of the top units in the league, recently went out for a dinner as a team bonding exercise. In the team bonding event, the Browns rookies Siaki Ika and Isaiah McGuire fell victim to the hazing tradition.
The Browns defensive linemen went out for dinner together before their week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams this weekend. Following their dinner, rookie defensive linemen Siaki Ika and Isaiah McGuire got their welcome to NFL moment as they got strapped with a $40,000 dinner bill.
After seeing the bill, Isaiah McGuire was in disbelief at how much he had to spend on the team dinner. A shocked Siaki Ika said this:
What? This don't make no sense.
NFL rookie dinner is a tradition where the rookies have to pay during the team dinner. It has been going on for years, and now Ika and McGuire were the tradition’s latest victims. The brief video of McGuire and Ika’s hilarious reaction went viral on social media and accumulated nearly 160k views. Check out the footage attached below.
While most fans expressed their disbelief that rookies have to pay $40k for a dinner, others noted the amount on the bill might be just a fun prank on the rookies. There have been many instances where the rookies have been pranked by veterans, so one cannot look over the possibility that the amount might just be a prank.
Isaiah McGuire and the Browns defense looking to keep their team in contention
After losing starting quarterback Deshaun Watson to a season-ending shoulder injury, the Browns are now dependent on their defensive unit to keep them in playoff contention.
They rank inside the top 10 in most of the major defensive statistics and rank no.1 in total yards against per game. So, they are certainly equipped to handle any offensive units in the league.
In Watson’s absence, the Browns will turn to their rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson as their starting signal-caller. Next, they are scheduled to face the Los Angeles Rams in their week 13 matchup in a tough road game.
